Newborn Safety During Newborn Sessions
I’m going to take a quick minute to talk about Newborn Safety. the safety of newborns during their newborn session is always my number one priority. these precious little bundles are so much fun to capture but they do startle very easily. No matter how safe you think a newborn is in a prop it is always best to have a spotter. I have a quick little video here from a recent session that shows how I keep these precious babies safe while photographing them.
Please remember that no cute shot is ever more important than a baby’s safety! Lets keep those babies safe while we capture them!
NEWBORN SAFETY ALWAYS COMES FIRST!
Notice how my spotter is seated close to the baby at all times? I have my spotter lower his/her hand just inches from the baby’s back to keep him safe while I am setting up the shot. It is very important that I do not have my spotter place their hand directly on the baby’s back because when it is time to move it away it could cause the baby to startle. This is a very simple set up but it is still very important to keep baby’s safety in mind at all times. It only takes them a split second to startle. I have seen babies strong enough to nearly kick themselves right out of a prop.
Her is the final image from sweet Oliver’s session. Isn’t he the sweetest. I absolutely love having the opportunity to photographer several babies from the same family. It is so fun to see how big they have gotten and how similar the siblings look. I think you can certainly tell that these two are related!
And take a look at big sister just 15 months earlier. Isn’t she so gorgeous!?
Love this!!!!! So very important!!!
Such good advice. Finding a photographer that has knowledge and experience is invaluable.
I’m SO glad you posted this! Newborn safety is so important. Working with some precious cargo here! 😉
